I have been seeing lots of scooters in Atlanta laying so I am looking into the laws and information for my bloggers. I recently had a student receive a reckless driving riding one in the evening. Below is an article by Stephen Deere with the AJC:
https://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt–politics/atlanta-city-council-lays-down-law-scooters/PK8s4IJDAK0aiJSlAY6KHK/
The highlights of the article are that Atlanta City Council has approved more rules, but they mainly focus on the companies operating the scooters as opposed to the riders. For example, the city now mandates that the scooters be parked upright on sidewalks allowing pedestrians five feet of space. Also, the companies must have permits now, and the devices can not exceed 15 mph.
More articles to come about the scooter laws! I am a native to Atlanta so this is all interesting to me seeing the city change.
